TaleSpin was only 65 episodes long, but arguably had one of the most expansive and vast universes to build on. Originally conceptualized as a spin-off of DuckTales, it often gets overlooked when discussing the rest of the Disney Afternoon line-up. We’re not sure why, because TaleSpin is one of the better children’s shows out there. Talk about wasted potential, this show is one that seems primed for a re-boot. Who knows if it will ever come, but we can dream. Listen along with us as we revisit a show that’s nearly 30 years old, but feels like it was just produced.

From Wikipedia:

TaleSpin is an American animated television series based in the fictional city of Cape Suzette, that first aired in 1990 as a preview on The Disney Channel and later that year as part of The Disney Afternoon, with characters adapted from Disney’s 1967 animated feature The Jungle Book, which was theatrically rereleased in the summer before this show premiered in the fall.[1] The name of the show is a play on tailspin, the rapid descent of an aircraft in a steep spiral. The two words in the show’s name, tale and spin, are a way to describe telling a story.[2] The show is one of the nine Disney Afternoon shows to use established Disney characters as the main characters, with the others being Darkwing DuckDuckTalesChip ‘n Dale Rescue RangersGoof TroopBonkersQuack PackAladdin and Timon & Pumbaa.
