[SPOILER ALERT: In this episode we discuss some spoilery story details for Heroes Reborn, Scream Queens, Quantico, Blindspot, Rick and Morty, and Rosewood.]
Hey look, the first episode of Punch Drunk TV has arrived. For those of you familiar with our previous podcast, Pass The Effin’ Remote, you’ll notice not much has really changed. However, if you’re new to the world that is Jack and Aaron drinking about television…welcome to the party, pal!
This past week brought the return of a lot of new programs to network TV as well as a bunch of new shows we both loved and really really disliked. But first, here are the NEWS HIGHLIGHTS of the week:
AMC will premiere its new 16-episode Fear The Walking Dead web-series online — which takes place on an airplane — this weekend and will thusly air each one minute clip during the commercial break of each new episode of The Walking Dead this season. AMC will not be letting Seth Rogen use the “F” word in his Preacher series which makes us wonder how watered down the show will be. Netflix has picked up a new 12-episode season of Black Mirror. HBO allegedly made the background actors for Westworld agree to a consent form warning of all sorts of crazy sexual behavior including forming a table shape while nude. The villain Flamingo, from Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin, will be coming to Gotham later this year. Jon Hamm will play a fishy ad executive named “Don Grouper” on a new episode of Spongebob Square Pants. It looks like Waylon Smithers is finally coming out of the closet in this season of The Simpsons. A new version of The A-Team is in development with a producer from the Fast and Furious franchise and the daughter of Stephen J. Cannell. Nicki Minaj is developing a sitcom inspired by her life over at ABC Family. And finally, there’s a petition going around calling for Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain to be taken off the air due to its “Grand Guignol of gore” involving how animals.
